Mountaintop Lake & Recreation Center

Delight in a true escape at our pristine 100-acre Mountaintop Lake. Canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding fishing, hiking, beach lounging and forest bathing await at this scenic and adventure-filled setting. The lake may be reached via a 20 minute drive in your own SUV on a marked trail. Adventurous guests may hike for approximately one hour to the lake Morning session from 10 am - 1pm or afternoon session from 2 - 5pm. Boating available for one hour durations. $34 adults, $19 children 4-12; children 0-3 free.

Canoes, Kayaks, Stand-Up Paddleboards

Set out for adventure onto the tranquil waters with a kayak, canoe or paddleboard. Whether you're a beginner or expert, refreshing waters and stunning scenery await. Water sport equipment is available for complimentary use as part of the Mountaintop Lake offering on a first-come, first served basis.

Fishing

Kids and adults alike will enjoy fishing from the dock, or if you're adventurous, take a small hike around the lake and fish from the perimeter. The Mountaintop Lake is home to various types of fish including large-mouth bass, trout, bluegill, chain pickerel, perch, rock bass and sunfish. Poles are available.

Lake Swim

There’s nothing quite like a refreshing dip in our mountaintop lake. The scenic views and nature’s beauty will captivate your senses! After a day of water sports and activity in the sun, the sparkling waters will be a welcome respite with family and friends. Available through September 5, 2021.

Beach Lounging

Enjoy the beautiful sand beach with a lounge chair waiting for you. Bring a good book and sunscreen… then sit back and soak in the beauty and tranquility that surrounds you.

Hiking

Explore our natural surroundings with a peaceful hike. Miles of hiking on valley floors, steep ascents, and ridge lines offer outstanding views and an incredible nature experience. Available for all levels: beginner, intermediate and strenuous.

Forest Bathing

Quiet the mind and deepen the connection with your inner self and the natural environment through practicing sensory awareness such as scent, sight, sound and breath.

Wilderness Navigation

Experience adventurous fun with Beginner’s Orienteering. Participants will receive a map, a compass and an electronic ‘punch’ timing stick in the quest to locate multiple checkpoints around the Mountaintop area. At each point, the e-punch stick is inserted into the control marker and recorded. Pay attention to the check point’s number to ensure the correct location has been reached! Results provided at the end of the course.

Den Building

There's a real art to den building…why not give it a try? This self-guided effort will allow guests to work together to build an impressive structure of their own design, using only the forest's natural resources. Come forage for leaves, twigs, fur cones, feathers ... anything you can find to decorate the structure and transform it into an impressive woodland retreat.
