Experience the aerial courtship of the American Woodcock. This is a stubby little shorebird with a super long bill that calls wet woodlands home. While making a "Peenting" cry, the male launches itself into the air and then spirals down to the earth hoping to attract a female. This is not a walk, per se. We will check out the location at Owen's Station Road and then drive to nearby Timberdoodle Trail (another name for woodcock) in search of these birds. This trip is part of the Friends of he Wallkill River NWR.
Dress for cooler evening temperatures and bring a flashlight (and binoculars if you have them).
Meet at the Clubhouse at 6:10pm.
Please RSVP to Donna and Doreen (dtraylor@ptd.net, mad4paws@ptd.net).
